Nursing appeals to me as a noble profession, where I can channelize my inherent virtues like compassion, care and managerial abilities. After meticulously scanning my professional avenues, I have decided to progress my studies in the noble sphere of nursing. This decision has convinced me to pursue a Master’s in Nursing from the esteemed University of McGill.

I completed my degree in Nursing from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi. Being a meritorious student, I withstood sustained pressure to maintain good grades throughout the course.  With hard work and perseverance, I was able to complete the course with the highest distinction. The training equipped me with a wide range of life-saving skills. In addition to gaining a significant volume of academic knowledge, I became adept in operating medical equipment and performing preliminary diagnoses on patients.

In addition to my studies, I have been an active partaker in various non-academic activities. I enjoy playing games like badminton and have won prizes in matches at the college sports club. As a member of the Music, Dance & Arts Club, I performed in various events. At the same time, I enjoyed the happening moments, coordinating the organization of cultural programs at the campus. As an active life member of the Red Cross Society, I had opportunities to contribute back to the community. The positions that I have held in various groups had a prominent part in shaping my character and fostering my communication skills.

My life as a professional nurse started with an internship at the AIIMS Hospital. Being one of the best medical establishments in the country, the cases I had to attend to were critical and high-risk states. The work pressure and responsibilities tremendously increased if the patient happened to be a high-profile personality. However, working in this high-pressure environment made me capable of tackling any curveballs that come up my way. This experience made my transition to a professional life more comfortable than expected.

After completing my education, I was hired by the Jahangir Hospital in Pune. The stint started at the pediatrics department. After three years, recognizing my ability to keep composure in high-stress situations, they transferred me to the Critical Care Unit as an Assistant Head Nurse. I have been working in this position for the past two years. At this point, I realized that I have plateaued in my career progress. To make my way to the next phase, it is essential for me to ramp up my prospects with advanced education.

India has a high demand for medical professionals who have received education or work experience from abroad. Canada, with its unparalleled fame for fostering nurses with industry skills, was my first choice. I was able to confirm that, much like in other professions, certification from Canada has a high acceptance rate in the Indian health sector. The country also holds the goodwill of being a safe location for international students.

In preparation for my expedition, I started training my English language skills. Last month, I took my IELTS test and secured an overall score of 7.5 with no less than 6.5 in all divisions. I also started my search for the best educational institutions in Canada. My hunt for the best institution convinced me that learning from a college outside the country will be conducive to my career growth.

Through my researchers, McGill University appeared to be the most suitable option. The curriculum, laboratories, reference library, and student endorsement programs of the institution are top-notch. The syllabus adequately covers advanced topics like obstetrical nursing, intervention therapies, and disease control. It also gives the necessary flexibility in choosing electives and supplementary papers. I am leaning towards selecting the community service option rather than the internship program. Finally, the fee structure for the course is reasonable, considering the excellence of the training.

I completely comprehend the prerequisite financial arrangements for admission to the program. The course will be funded from my savings. My family will sponsor any additional expenses that I may incur.
